What’s a
“diametrically-magnetized” magnet?
Conventional disk magnets have the north pole on one end and the south
pole on the other, which is ideal for proximity sensing.
But diametrically-magnetized magnets have the poles on opposite sides of the magnet
diameter, making them perfect for angle sensors.

Magnet Holders
NVE offers two magnet
holders for evaluation and prototyping:
The holders are machined aluminum. Set screws secure the magnets in the holders
and allow magnet position adjustments. There are threaded mounting holes for a
thumbscrew to turn the magnet, or the hole can be used to attach the holder to
a rotating shaft. A “clockhand” indicator helps track magnet rotation.
The holders drop into AG93x-Series
and AG956
Evaluation Kits and are compatible with several popular diametrically-magnetized
disk magnets:
